Working from home takes a lot of self discipline. It is important if you are going
to be working from your home and running the business yourself that you
understand how to stay focused with your home business.
Tip #1: set aside a period of time to work
One of the first things that will help you to stay focused is making sure that each
day you set aside a period of time to work.
When you don’t have a regular job to go to from 9 to 5 it can be difficult not to
procrastinate.
You might find that you tell yourself that you will get to it later and then later
comes and you still haven’t accomplished what you needed to for the day.
Tip #2: Remind Yourself It’s still a job
The next thing you need to do is remind yourself that it is still a job. This will
help keep your focused on the fact that even though you work from home it
is still your source of income and in most cases people need their source of
income to get by financially.
So if you remind yourself of this you will be able to realize that you have to
get things accomplished.
These are only a few of the many different tips you can use to stay focused
with your home business.
You might find that some days are easier than others when it comes to focusing.
At times you might have to just step back take a break and then come back to
what you were doing so that you have a fresh new outlook on the situation.
No matter what the situation is you have set your sights on your home
business and you should remind yourself of this when the going gets tough
so that you don’t end up just throwing your hands up and then regretting it later
down the road.
What questions do you have about how to stay focused when working from
home? Post them here and I’ll answer them straight away.

GREAT article! Focus is tough for me, especially not looking at others & seeing how well they are doing or not compared to me. When they do better than I do, I get disccouraged & tend to not work…..the zoom/eeeekkk syndrom. Any suggestions on how to stay consistent & motivated & not be distracted by others accomplishments or other things around the house that should be done?
I’m glad you liked it Cindy.
Re: suggestions to stay consistent. Try creating a list of the things that have to happen each day (or each week,) schedule an appointment with yourself and when the appointment time comes work that list. That can help you stay in action and do those little things that are important to do frequently.
As far as avoiding distractions, having another place to work from (either in the house away from everyone, or out of the house) can really help you to avoid all the other things around the house that need to get done. If you set a specific work hours for each day and start holding the boundary with yourself and with others this should improve.
And if you’d like to talk more about how I can help you to identify the right schedule, the right things to do during that time, and create better boundaries, please feel free to connect with me at ChatWithDeanna.com
It really is a fact that we people had a rough time managing our time. Sometimes we had our side business aside from the real work that we are working. Thank you for making me realize how important to have a time management by reading this article so that in the end I may not regret the things that I did.
